One-sheet
Brussels-based musician and composer. Does things the wrong way, but mostly on purpose. Highly recommended. Not him, his way of doing things. And him as well.

Full bio
Adam Russell is a Brussels-based musician, radio presenter, co-founder of the socio-cultural non-profit Oersoep and the venue Hexagon. But for the sake of this specific bio, he's mostly a composer. Through his experience creating music for film, theatre, radio, and podcasts, his sonic identity comes from his sound rather than a fixed genre. The music he makes (and his life, sadly/happily) also embraces this indeterminacy: everything he does overlaps, and is perpetually caught somewhere between paralysis and change. He’s working on it, but bro thrives only on the promise of chaos...
Being the edgy millennial he is, Russell draws creatively on his upbringing with the basic vocabulary of a rock band alongside a growing fascination with orchestral and choral music. He combines it with whatever is at hand: his own voice, field/phone recordings, electronics, and principally ignores the conventional ‘how things are supposed to be done’. If his work were to be found at a modern arts vernissage, the little text beside it would involve annoying terms like “labyrinthian,” “formally subversive,” and “unpredictably coherent.”The result can be confusing, but mostly for himself.
His latest single ‘When In Rome’ is now available on all platforms, under his solo work as Adam Van Russell. He is also the guitarist of Tranen, from whom you’ll be expecting a new album and tour very soon.
